Level 3 protests Verizon, AT&T "lock-up" data connection deals

The grudge match between Netflix network provider Level 3 and Comcast over access to the latter's subscribers has faded into the background, but Level 3 has other battles to fight. Among the front burner issues: special access deals with Verizon and AT&T that Level 3 says amount to "lock up" contracts, forcing the firm to buy up to 100 percent of the high speed interconnection it purchased the previous year in order to receive "rack rate" discounts.

Brains of newborn human babies and Neanderthals, who became extinct about 28,000 years ago, were about the same size and appear almost identical at first. But after birth and particularly during the first year of life the differences in development are stark, according to Phillipp Gunz of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Germany.
